depending on the programs offered in your state youd be looking at variants of degrees with labels of "Information Technology", "Computer Information Systems", "Applied Science with emphasis in CIS", "Business Admin with emphasis of CIS", stuff like that would pertain to what you want to do. Computer Science is more of having to do with writing code and designing programs for companies.

Building a computer is not all that hard, most OEM's pay people minimum wage to assemble PC's overseas. The most useful thing you could get out of college if that is what you want to do is a business program. But personally I would set my standards a little higher.

it's just a general idea of what types of programs you should look for at your college if you want to be a system analyst type person. CIS = computer information systems which is interchangeable with information technology

Unfortunately the most likely way to do something like that would be in a local repair shop. And to be honest, a doing a degree to end up with this sort of job would be a waste. Especially as it wouldnt be that well paid.
I suppose you could go down the Certification route. E.g. Microsoft certifications like MCP, or MCSE/A. but even these are more support based (e.g. fixing problems). A Electrical Engineering course might be a good option too. These usually deal with Building/Installing/Fixing computers, Electronics, and Wiring up buildings, e.g. Installing Cabling looms, Patch Panels, Trunking etc. EDIT: Probably the best thing to do is to sit down with a Careers Advisor in your School or the University you wish to attend, and discuss courses, and the possible Jobs/careers available if/when you graduate.

I don't think the OP implicitly means he just wants to build PCs all day...what I got out of that is what some IT System Analysts do.(not JUST that, but I mean come on, designing and researching recommended system choices to meet a businesses' technology needs, it's a bit like what he described and I know that system is a rather ambiguous term in the context of this thread)
