I remember people talking about a program or a plugin for a fairly popular media player or something where you could rip the audio from something that you were playing online, such as a youtube video or something,
Im not looking to infringe copyrights, but rather I wanna use some audio from select youtoube vids for a homework assignment in one of my classes. I wanna get the audio track for "shoes" lol anyone know what Im talking about?

Only thing I know that can do that was the "What U hear" mode on X-Fi cards. You could enable that and then record using something like audacity.

Audacity is also a good free tool to let you record what you hear.

Or, you could take the slightly more complicated route of downloading the FLV file from YouTube, demuxing it and getting the audio!
