Default uTorrent / Opera

I just switched back to Windows (7) from Fedora (10) and I am liking it so far. Only I have one issue which is, I seem to be unable to find a torrent program that will allow me to stop downloading as well as uploading (apart from eachother).

On Fedora I used to be able to first turn off seeding the torrent for me to be able to download it (since my upload would constantly interrupt my downloads) and after I had downloaded the torrent for 100% I would start seeding.

In uTorrent and Opera I am able to set the maximum uploads to 5kilobytes/s but it's still messing with my download speed for some reason. Has anyone got a name of a program for me with which I can turn off downloading as well as uploading apart from eachother?

Greets,
Timo

If you cap the upload speeds in utorrent, they automatically throttle the download speeds to something reaaaly low. I think the limit is 10kb\s.

Also, the more you upload, the more likely other peers are to upload to you (the give some-give some method), so people with more upload bandwidth will always download faster (when you discount all other inconsistencies).

Ehh.. Doesn't work that way. People with higher upload bandwidth also tend to have faster download bandwidth. The tracker doesn't keep track of who uploads and then gives you more seeds. People just upload to the most connectable person.

I said if you take out all the other inconsistencies, like line quality, actual upload bandwith that can be used per peer, and such. I've actually tested this myself, and the people who are downloading are much more likely to upload to you if you're uploading to them (and to upload to them at more than .5kb\s you need to have enough upload slots + bandwidth).

People throttle their lines on purpose you know. Unlimited download, 30kb\s upload when they really can upload 240kb\s.

Just proved my point there. If you are already connected to them, of course they will upload back to you. It's called being connectable.
