That's the output file type when using the Sony AVC option. In my opinion it's better quality that using WMV or MPEG.

I'm not very informative when it comes to video quality, I just do what I saw a long time ago and it brings good results.

I sometimes make the Bitrate lower so that the file size is generally smaller if I don't want to take a long time to upload.

Also if your videos output dark, you can increase the brightness of the video by using the effects option on the video to the far right of the video in the timeline.

You could try just playing the game at 1280x720 so that it records at that actual resolution, and then just render it.

You could also just render it with one of the HD 1280x720 presets.
