Then you're **** outa luck. The only other option would be to extract onto a different harddrive, so it's not reading\writing back and forth (and thusly hurting speeds by a minimum of 50%).

Using a faster program will only help if your physical harddrives can keep up.

installing win 7x64 & using the slightly speedier 64bit winrar is about the only other possible way i can think of

Your CPU usage doesn't spike because those files were made with Compression set to Store (they're not compressed). Why? Because they'd gain very little from using a more 'efficient' setting - the content inside doesn't compress well. Most scene RARs are like this.


There is no decompression going on. The bottleneck is your hard drive.

Pretty much extract it on a dedicated hard drive. Should go a tad faster.
