Exclamation Any ideas on how to speed up .rar extractions?
Pretty much every day I need to extract multiple files that are compressed in .rar format that are multiple gigabytes large. I am using WinRAR with Multithreading enabled and low priority disabled but whenever I am extracting the files, my CPU usage never really spikes. A 1 gig file takes about 40 seconds to decompress and a 15 gig file takes about 5 minutes.

I was just wondering if anybody knew of any programs that could decompress .rar files more efficiently or if there were any tricks or options that I could turn on to make WinRAR use all of my CPU power.

Try 7zip. Its supposedaly faster than winrar.

How is word supposedaly written correctly?

I should have mentioned this earlier but I actually did test 7zip against winrar and found it to be consistently slower than WinRAR when extracting the same files.

Also, to answer your question, it is written supposedly.

Extracting from a file to the same drive is ALWAYS slower.

That said, a faster storage medium will of course speed up extracting.

If I remember right, memory speed has a little to do with Extraction speed.
