Default HDD Clone Free??

Ok, so I am having some serious problems with a friend's Gateway. I just re-formatted, and I applied fresh TIM (the GPU was at 106*C idle, and its an 8800GT). So I've got all of the problems fixed now, except for one MAJOR problem.

The hard drive has almost completely died on me now! And this is after I spent over 16 hours non-stop installing crap to it.

So is there any free HDD cloning tools out there that are easy enough to use, so I can clone this stupid thing to a known good hard drive?

Specs:
Gateway thing
X2 6000+ Windsor
3.0GB DDR2-667
ECS NF6100 Motherboard
Western Digital AAKS 500GB SATA (dead HDD)
Western Digital 250GB IDE Drive (the one to clone TO)
Windows Vista Home Premium x64

Clonezilla. VERY easy to use, just go to the site and download the image file, burn it onto a disc and boot the rig up with it. Follow the steps and it should ask you which drive is the source and which one will be written on.

What about xxclone? I just stumbled across it on google....and it looks like it MIGHT work okay? I don't have any blanks....otherwise I'd use Clonezilla.

Acronis true image? I know they have just released 10 which you have to buy but they give away the older versions quite often.I think I got 8 after they released 9
