There are several logs in the logs section tagged [Case Mod Comp 2008]; these were completed entries from last year's competition. You can cross-check those with last year's registration thread to gain a perspective of the type of workmanship that is shown for each class.

Thanks. Another question - I assume, then, that I don't actually have to use a "real" or traditional case as a starting point?

As long as the finished product is a PC case it's fine; scratch builds and such are all welcome.

even a very large case? cause thats what im planning on doing w/o revealing too much

Yes. No matter the size, last year we had someone mod a router housing with a Pico ITX board and had some big WC rigs too.

Here's a question(I'm pretty sure that you won't like it): I made my latest build on a cork board, because i don't have a case in the moment. Does that have a chance in the competition?

Hardware sitting on a piece of corkboard doesn't qualify as a mod I wouldn't think...

This competition is all about modding/building a PC case within the time frame of the competition; simply placing hardware onto cork board does not constitute a case mod.

Use your heads guys. This is a Case Mod Comp. If you can't decide whether your idea will qualify or not, look at last year's entries HERE. Links to the final builds for Amateur, Intermediate, and Pro are at the end of the first post.
