I went out of town for a week--got back and found that rather than folding my puters had been waiting and retrying to connect...after I restarted I got a pair of 56 pointers--I usually get 200+ pointers lately--I think the benchmark might have picked up on the slow retrieval...not sure...but now I think it must just be the project priorities at Stanford. Thanks for the info Jrabb...

I've had 23 Tinker cores since I started folding back in February of this year. 1- 1152 (239 pts) 6 - 1162 (241 pts) 16 - 1163 (241 pts) I think I've completed all the WU's that have been mentioned here; Gromacs, DGromacs, GBGromacs, Amber, Tinker, and 7a cores... I guess I'm just lucky, ;-)

As to my post. It was in response to cowboys's comments and concerns. I was sharing my recent experiences as an example of how some of the Stanford servers work. I'll be the first to tell you that I don't know how the WU's are allocated, or what they are based on (servers, benchmarking, etc) and btw don't really care. However, if points are what folks are looking for, then the Stanford site might be one place to start. As for your comments. I agree with you, but others may not share your views, in total. It's what ever floats "their" boats I say... I fold because it's a good cause, some results have been forthcoming and when I really get frustrated keeping 6 rigs folding 24/7 and the expense incurred thereof (electricity, parts, maintenance, etc) I think of this forum, Team 37726 and my team - Folders Inc. I hope this explains my position better, :-)

@Strider well I think we all know that it's for a cure but for those of us who are folding fanatics and are trying to get into the top 50 or to #1 as jrabb is doing it is about points for us. We understand that it isn't just a game but it's helpful. Who's to so you can't do both though. No one said that this was purely for points. We just are competitive.

I fold for finding a cure for disease's, and if asking for more points is bad then we all need to stop folding, but I also have lung cancer which is in remission, but it makes me fill good to fold for cures and points. and there are others on the site that folds for the same reason so it is kind of personal as it should be for all of us.

You hit the nail on the head. We fold for the good cause of fighting diseases, team play and "nice" individual competition. Or at least I do... I just lost a rig on Sunday. I made a 2 hr trip (140 miles), bought some parts (HDD), payed for some professional help to extract lost data on a dead hard drive. It did save a WU. Anyway, now I feel behind. So I just cranked up the overclocks on my main rigs (3) to compenste for the lost time. Is this fun or what??? lol In truth - If it wasn't for you folks here in overclock.net, I don't think I would have gone to all of the trouble... "I love you man!" but you can't have my Bud Light! LOL Anyway, good luck and Fold On, :-)

Hey jrabb, I'm sorry to hear about your lung cancer but glad it's in remission. I don't have any long term illnesses or anything but like you I fold because it hits close and hope that they can find cures. My uncle dies 3 yrs. ago from brain cancer. when they found it 6 yrs ago they told him he had 6 months but he ended up fighting to live 3 yrs longer! Then in february my Great Uncle found out he had cancer in both lungs and his esophoges(SP?) he dies a few weeks ago. I hope that what we do can help the medical professionals find the answers they need! Again I am glad yours is in remission and hope they find a cure soon just so you don't have to worry about if it will come back. Best wishes and prayers for ya!
PS - on a lighter note, My friends who lives in Iowa and has never been to AZ had his Debit card # haxed by someone in tucson. They spent $1100 of his, at a walmart somewhere around there, but luckily his bank gave him $$ to compinsate, he's a poor college kid like myself. just thught of that when I saw you're in tucson.
