This guide assumes you have downloaded the correct version, and run the self extractor to extract it to some location you can find.
__________________(because if you can't do that why do you want to overclock?! and if you don't want to overclock why are you here? )First step, if you don't have Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0 get it here. Fairly straight forward to install, any problems go ask Microsoft not me. Next step, open the file marked 1. ![]() Enter the username of the user on your Windows system you want to fold under, along with the password. Then move on to file number two and fill in the team number and your username and settings. ![]() I thought it was easy, and that you don't need a guide but I'm a tad bored and avoiding all the uni work that needs to be done. Setting a user password. Go to Start> Control Pannel> User Accounts Click the account you will be useing, then select Set my password. Don't want to use a password every time you restart your computer? Wasn't that easy?

I left it on for 10 mins. And i accidently closed it. It's still at 0 out of 500000 steps. Why didn't it go atleast a few numbers up?

You need to change the saveing interval in the advanced options.
__________________![]() I don't know why it doesn't save on closeing but thats what you get with beta software.

How many machines are you useing if its just 1, set it to one.
__________________Or just leave it at whatever its currently at. If you close it before a checkpoint you loes anything its done since the last one. Though some times it saves when you close it. Again, buggy beta problems.

You can make this "How to install SMP on Windows XP and Vista" if you want because its pretty much the same. I just installed it on Vista.
First off, Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0 is ALREADY INSTALLED on Vista, no need to download it. I did and thats what it told me when i tried to install it. You HAVE to Disable UAC as far as i can tell, i tried working around it but could not, as soon as i disabled UAC it worked. (Start>Control Panel>Click User Accounts>Click User Accounts again>Click "Turn User Account Control On or Off">Uncheck the Box>Press Ok and Restart Now or Later, but you will have to Restart for it to work). Everything else is the same except i went into the advanced options, i dont know what is set by default, but this is what i used. (Note: I set memory usage to 1024 to see what it did, like how much it used. So set accordingly to your memory. I am using 57% of my 2gigs of memory right now running Vista, SMP, Windows Media Player, Firefox, Photoshop, and AIM as far as whats open, which is the exact percentage of what was being used running SMP through VMware)(EDIT: It its now just using 31% with Firefox and AIM and WMP running on Vista). Here is what i did: ![]() Feel free to add what i said and the image to your post to make it for XP and Vista if you like. Doesnt matter either way. Just thought id share. EDIT: Found this: "5) Most SMP WU's will be "big" WU's, so you'll have to configure the client that way. During the client configuration, when the client asks "Allow receipt of work assignments and return of work results greater than 5MB in size (such work units may have large memory demands) (no/yes)" say yes. Suggestion: Change the default. Failure to set BigWU often is reported by the message "Length of WU to be returned exceeds packet limit" when you try to upload. This can be fixed with qfix but that's a lot harder than using BigWU." Source: List of Known Bugs
