GPUs are essentially massively parallel floating point processors. Each shader is like a mini CPU, and the X1900 has 48 of them.

The point system is set up to be fair to both CPU and GPU folders, so you do not earn a whole lot more than a CPU folder. Still, you are contributing a whole lot more to life-saving research, and that is what really counts.

I'd contribute if I was home. I'd be running the PS3 and the GPUs. I'm gonna make my own team I think in the future Someone post how well the client runs.

I believe the GPU architecture is unable to support folding.
