Default More SMP woes

so i set up smp earlier this afternoon and its been running fine. i rebooted my computer and now when it loads up i get the fah.exe service and mpiexce.exe but nothing else (folding related).

what happened? did i mess something up or is it just taking a long time to figure out where it was and restart?

so i manually ran fah.exe and it did some stuff and then said "previous terminiation of core was imporoper"

so whats the proper way to shut it down so it resumes on reboot?

I think it always says that. Dont worry about it. As far as the service goes, F@H cannot be run as a service. The option is there, but it doesnt work. You have to manually start and stop it. Just open it and close it (click X). Thats all ive ever done.

Technically the proper way to shut down winsmp, is to press ctrl+c. That will shut it down.

Ya Lude is right winsmp has issues running as a service. Look here http://www.overclock.net/overclock-n...ng-39-cpu.html, at post #4.

This way you can start it up automatically and minimized, using 100% core.

last time i shut the window it stopped the process, so i guess this doesn't work like the console version.

-Make sure you use a password to long onto windows.
-Run the install.bat file first. Make sure you enter your windows user name then password.
-Run the fah.exe and remember to not configure f@h as a service.
-Always use ctrl+c to shut down the core even if you're rebooting or shutting down your pc.

Regardless, you'll eventually get errors and need to shut down the core and start it up again... sometimes you need to do it like 3 or 4 times to finally get it going. It's annoying but that's why it's still a beta.

Oh, any idea when a newer, more stable version will be coming out? i really liked that the text console version was easy and no hassle.

Sorry to hi-jack the thread, but I just have a quick question.

I just installed SMP ~15mins ago and it looks to be working as it should.

I did notice the WU start time being off from my PC's local time. It lists Dec 10 02:20:03 when my local time would have been Dec 09 20:20:03.

I am just curious if this will be a problem when I restart my PC, or if this is completely normal.

Thanks,

Joe

the folding clients go by the time on the servers clock, not the users
