ive been wanting to try this...but what do i do when a new linux or folding client comes out ? and could i still run this while gaming ?

Just update your folding client, by deleting the folder of the old one and reinstalling with the new client.

It depends on what games you play. I can play Civ 4, with some lag, and WOW, I wouldn't suggest playing Crysis or a FPS while folding. Playing top of the line games while folding slows down both the folding, and gaming. You can play internet games, and older games without any slowdown.

I just shut the client down while gaming and then restart. That's why my stats on the weekends tend to be a little lower.

when i try to share the fah folder it says i dont have permission to do so...anyone got any help ?

ah, it keeps getting stuck at "Entering M.D." and then after 5 hours, it says upload complete then just stops there.

got it working...had to re install samba.

I think the new client has 15 minute timer after finishing a WU, but if it does get stuck I close the terminal, then shutdown VMware, and then start it back up.

Ok everything is working fine now...but how much ram should i set vmware to use ?and if i keep changing the vmware setting and the SMP client still thinks it has more ram to use what happens ? should i re configure the client every time i change the memory usage in vmware preferences ?

so what is the optimal amount of ram i should be letting it use ?

edit: ive read i should be letting it use 800mb for the os and the client to run properly on foldingforums

would that be right ?

here's the final few log entries. i looked at it at 17:30.

it did exact same thing last night. i restarted FaH client this morning.
restarting Ubuntu as we speak

Also every time the client writes a checkpoint my pc locks up for around 10 seconds and then continues normally.

is there anything i can do ?
