Actually it is mostly Python code (Testgui is a python script) so it should "run" on any system. It won't work on Windows for sure, but with a little tweaking it should run on Mac just fine.

Nice job it works great on Arch64 and Openbox. How about using a hidden folder instead and automatic creation of a shortcut?

Not sure if you want to keep this aimed at Debian based distros or not but if you were to expand it to check for the required 32libs for other distros then,

Code:
pacman -sy lib32-glibc
is what you would want for Arch.

A few tips.
Add in some error checking and making sure things are happy.
Maybe make folding a hidden folder or an option to do so in future updates. (or install it on the system maybe?)
Make an alias for starting the fah client so its easier to start later on.
instead of /home/$USER use $HOME

Off topic: Hows the weather there? The tornado sirens have gone off 7 times now in Oxford.

Thanks for the advice and the code (and the rep). I definitely want to include the biggest Package Mangers so I can install the needed libraries for 64-bit Linuxes. Now as soon as I figure out how to make the folders hidden and create a shortcut, I'll be all over it.

Well, do you have any idea how to add some error checking? I'm clueless. I think I like your idea of adding an option to make it hidden (personally I like mine being on the Desktop...) Maybe I can figure out a way to let you choose where the destination folder is, but thats far into the future. I want to get Linux, Mac, and Windows versions working first.

OFT: It was really bad. My parents made me turn off my computer and unplug it. Then we had to go the basement... It's almost over here though. Channel 9 said there were three possible touchdowns around the Oxford Campus.

You can add some checks like so: (this will print out a warning but continue running)

mkdir -p folding || echo "Making directory \"folding\" failed."

or if you want it to end the execution of the program:

mkdir -p folding || echo "Failed" && exit 1

#!

install_location="$HOME/folding"
mkdir -p $install_location || echo "Failed making directory" && exit 1
cd $install_location
blah blah....

Why thank you! Now maybe you can get that place ranking up even higher! It makes me really excited to know that it worked for someone who has been having trouble with it! I'm currently working on a Mac version then I'll get around the windows version.

I meant the rest of the code definitely will not work in windows. I know the gui will come up.
