Interesting Bench! The 8800GT 256mb = 8800GT 512mb on same clocks, different CPUs! The 256mb is cheaper by $50(ish) in most sites!

TigerD has a 8800GT 256mb for $110:

Good find

You're saying your shader clock is 1188, or 2000?

2000 is a lot for the 90nm cards.. I tried boosting the shaders to see if there was any difference, running at 650/1620 now. A notch above that and FurMark artifacts, so I won't push it any further.. Doesn't seem to be much faster than 1566 though.

Anyone got benches of 9600GSO/8800GS vs 9600GT vs 8800GTS 320/640?
Well considering the GPU client loves it some shaders(both # and frequency) I'd say the best bang for the buck folding gpu would be either the 8800gs, 9600gso or 8800gt 256mb card...

9600gso(Asus TOP $84.00 after $30MIR @ ZZF)

core : 600mhz
SPs : 96
Shader : 1700mhz
Memory : 1800mhz

8800gs(EVGA $89.99 after MIR + F/S @ newegg):

Core : 550mhz
SPs : 96
Shader : 1375mhz
Memory: 1600mhz

8800gt 256mb (Nitteo's find XFX $109.99 after MIR + S/H @ TD):

Core : 650mhz
SPs : 112
Shader : 1600mhz
Memory : 1600mhz

For the money, I really like XFX 8800gt and Asus 9600gso top.

Remember that in the future, when they increase WU size beyond these miniscule ones, 256MB might turn out to be a limiting factor.

I wonder why our points have jumped up over 100,000 or 25% a day

Not to mention our next overtake has been almost cut in half

I'd definitely say it helps...

CPU: QX9650
CARD: EVGA GTX280
GPU DRIVER: 177.35
WU: 5002
FahmonPPD: 6513
OS: Vista64

CPU: Q6600 @ 3.33ghz 1.248V
CARD: EVGA 8800 GTS 512 @ 810/2052/1056 100% fan speed <45°C
GPU DRIVER: 177.35
WU: 5002/5001
FahmonPPD: 6513
OS: XP SP2 x86

Same PPD but GTX280 240SP @ 1296mhz(stock?) vs 8800gts 128SP @ 2052mhz...

And 8800gts 320mb(96SP) vs 9600gt(64SP)

CPU: Intel E4400 @ 2.66Ghz
CARD: Zotac 8800 GTS 320mb @ 513/1707/792
GPU DRIVER: 177.35
WU: 5002/5001
FahmonPPD: 4704PPD
OS: Windows XP 32-bit SP2

CPU: Q6600@3.2
CARD 9600GT 512MB stock
GPU DRIVER: 175.12
WU: 5001/5002
FahMonPPD: 4240.12
OS: XP Pro sp3 86x

Would be nice to see someone with an 8800gs or 9600gso drop by and provide some figures.

-EDIT- Is XP better in terms of PPD than Vista? I might try the other driver versions to see if that has any significant impact on PPD.

It would seem that way, but I'm not really a folding guru so it might not be be a good idea take my speculation/theorizing as fact.

Yup, Calculon from Futurama... I miss that cartoon.

-EDIT-

I'll probaby fold @ the OC that achieved 6K ppd for a couple hours/day through this next Utilities billing period... If my bill doesn't go stratospheric on me I'll continue folding for the cause.

futurama is still on cable

as soon as I get my new card I will fold with it and see if it actually does suck alot of power.

I am assuming that gpu folding isnt anymore expensive as cpu folding
