Yeah, but the 177.26, you got them from a third-party site, not Nvidia, right?

I installed the .26'es just like that but the archive itself already had the .inf mod to support older cards.

I can't get anything to work anymore....I tried the 177.35s, the 175.16s, and everything in between. I just cant seem to get it engaged in a WU. Somehow I get the "test protein A" which is 10 million long...grrr.....

Hmm, when I read the FAQ on another website, it said that I needed the 174.55 from the nvidia CUDA page, so I downgraded to that. It seems to work alright on my GTS.

Will running the SMP core slow folding of either client down significantly? Since this is the 2nd generation GPU client (I had some problems with the first gen) have they made this possible?

I just played TF2 while running the client, 1680x1050, everything on full, 16xAA and 16xAF. It played just as normal, no cannibalizing here.

The folding took quite a hit as expected but the important thing is that this works.

With beta1 and 177.26 playing a simple YouTube video would give me a driver-related BSOD.. Both TF2, YouTube and 720p playback works fine now.

I would not spend too much on a whole lot of GPUs just yet. this is very early beta, and I won't be surprised if Stanford will knock the points down significantly. It'll still be more productive in terms of points than the SMP client, but I have a feeling that the ~4000 - ~5000ppd for a single GPU is going to be the final count.

We'll see.

Having that said, my two 8800GTS 640MB (G80) are having fun folding

Nice thread! Good idea.

Can we have a table showing average times per model of card?

I would like to know how the 8800GT does?
Would I be better off with 8 of these or 2 x 280 GTX?

So far all i have tried it on is a 8600GT ...lol and it says 1302ppd

I moved my post out of the benchmark thread. The other post will soon disappear nitteo.

(Way tooooooo much CPU usage IMO)

With higher CPU my PPD goes way up into 4k range...

Are you having the viewer open? The viewer uses a lot of CPU resource. it uses 45-50% of my Quad when opened. 5-10% when off. Other than that, everything is done mostly by the video card. Though, there is a small scroll lag on browsers when my video card is working at its max.

Viewer = fail. I guess it is just for display purposes, to like show someone what it is doing, but I have no idea what it is a cpu hog. Only thing I can guess is that its your GPU rendering the scene, that way the GPU can still use 100% of its power to actual folding. That is my only guess, unless it is just poor programming.

These 177.35's must use the G92 core to the max. I get a little bit of lag/stuttering, anyone else have that? I can game and so on, but even at 55+fps it acts a lil laggy.

Sure once we get more info.

As of right now, people are saying CPU speed is not as important as GPU clocks, specifically the Shader! So you can back down the Memory OC to mitigate the heat.

Shader?
Care to elaborate on that
