The reason I ask is because my guy can prime using the blend settings with no problem for about 12 hours. But when I run smp I encounter freezes. At first I thought it was the gpu client but last night I ran only smp and it did it again.

I don't think it mirror's it. Different programs are more picky when it comes to your o/c. For example, I had a folding rig completely prime stable, and folded win smp for 3 months straight, no problems. I tried to fold VMware + Ubuntu and had to downclock my o/c to get it to fold without stability issues. I would try the small fft test on prime to stress your CPU. Usually if it passes small fft your good.
