I am not sure if I heard correctly, but I think it was a bad idea to fold using your CPU and GPU.

I could be wrong.

If you want to fold with your CPU too, then go to

folding.stanford.edu

and then goto the download section, it should automatically pull up the one you need.

You should only fold the GPU2 client with that duo. You need a quad to fold SMP + GPU2.

Why wouldn't/couldn't you run smp + gpu? Im sure this has been discussed before but could someone link me there? (Been out of it for a while :-\)

Folding on the GPU uses roughly a core and a half of your processor to feed it with information. If you have a dual core, that's like 65-70% of your total processing power. That leaves very little resources for the CPU SMP client.

On a quad, you still have ~3 cores to use for SMP, which will easily make deadlines.

The GPU2 uses a core + the graghics card. That only leaves one core for SMP. I believe you need atleast 2 cores to complete the deadlines for SMP. The SMP client was designed to take advantage of multi core CPU's. I believe this is the case, someone correct me if I'm wrong here.

Edit: Here is a thread that talks about it.http://www.overclock.net/overclock-n...t-run-smp.html

Ah very good then. Ill test it out on monday when i get to my computer but i didnt realize it took up 50% or more of a dual core.

Looks like gpu + text folding for me.
