Anyone done or seen comparision of running gpu2 client and a console client at the same time vs running smp client by its self (using a rig similar to my sig)?

Can one run an smp client and gpu client at the same time?

I am running both GPU2 and SMP. I set the affinity of the fah cores such that SMP runs on core 0,1, and 2 and the GPU on core 3. This has given me the best results.

I get about 2400 PPD with this setup. 1100 PPD GPU and 1300 PPD CPU.

Running individually I believe I got 1400 PPD GPU and 2200 PPD CPU. This was a long time ago so I will have to do some benches later tonight.

Could you do me a favor and see if limiting things to only use 2 cores (Notice I only have dual core) makes a difference

ie run smp on 0 and gpu on 1 (I guessing that the console version might then actually perform the same as SMP if SMP is limited to one core)...

Not sure if I have HT option in BIOS but enabling or disabling this... Would that make a difference?

I would venture to say you would have to run the -smp setting in the advanced feature as low for the CPU so the GPU can utilize some of the CPU as needed. An ATI GPU is basically dependent on one core so unless you try to share the cores with the GPU2 while -smp folding you won't be able to do both. That is if my theory even works simply because on a low priority you may or may not finish the -smp WU in time.

currently I have GPU2 and console running at home... Both cores get maxed and gpu runs around ~89-92% max...

So I am wondering if that is better than the SMP by itself?

I guess I am going to have to run a couple of days and see what I get then switch and run a couple of days again and see what I get.

Even the ATI GPU2 should exceed -smp PPD.
So, you do seem to have the best folding config for your system.

Using only core 0 for smp and core 1 for GPU I got 900 PPD CPU and 1300 PPD GPU.
