I'm folding 12-14 hours a day now. With the new Nvidia client I am now proud to say I have broke into the 400's and closing in fast. I just wish OCN could update my rank a bit faster.

Keep up the great work everyone!

I just finished my first WU for 37726 a few minutes ago and I will probably leave it on whenever my computer is on(excluding games since I have the gpu client). I tried to fold in the past on just my CPU and that was painstaking. This is much easier on the computer and I see no reason not to let it work.

Great work guys. Yeah the GPU client was awesome compared to my CPU back in the day when I was running it. I am actually wanting to try and get a fully fledged GPU rig going with Multi GPU's. Its a little way off though as its really going to cost me alot to get it up and running. Sooner the better.

Yeah sure you can Quote me. I dont mind at all. If anything I want it to serve as awareness to folding really.

Keep up all the awesome work guys because I know that my daughters future could partly hang on the work you all do folding and I am eternally thankful. I hope to join the race again as soon as I can !

well as soon as I can get my life turned back for the better. I'm going to try and build 1 or 2 folding rigs. I'd like to be able to add multiple GPU's to fold, but I believe currently we can only use one at a time on any given machine. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm guessing between $600-$900 budget for each. That may be on the low end for multiple GPU folding.

Well put Eneterprise, and a great message too.

My dad first got me into folding when he built a PC for us back in 1999. Yes, i was 8 and had an interest in biochemistry through distributed computing then , and he used to leave the beige P3 mechine on 24/7 the same as i leave my Quad + GPU on now. However i have recently started folding again seriously after my great grandad (a WW2 veteran) died of cancer, and when i think of people like Enterprise and the many others like him. As he so well put it, you may even be folding for yourself one day!

Something struck me the other day. The GPU client gets me about 100 more PPD over the SMP alone. However im sure that my contribution to the cause has increased much more due to the nature of parallel processing. So i'm still very happy with the GPU2 client, and GPU folding in general.

I'm in the process of building a 2nd PC for folding. Thinking of adding an ATI 3xxx series for GPU folding, as it only has a measily 3.4 P4 in there, and my dad is working on a new Quad core rig for him + the business. I'm going to ask him to fold for 37726 and the casue on it. (also going to overclock it for him ). We also own 3 shops, there are a few recent dual core rigs in there that i can install at least 1 f@h single thread on (won't slow it down too much) each. There are a few laptops that the staff use, i have allready 'hidden' a f@h thread on one as an experiment (only runs when not on battery). yeilds about 300ppd.

Back to the point, i think everyone should fold. I understand that alot or people can't or don't want to fold 24/7 but anything you can contribute will make the difference. Please fold for each other, this is a great idea and this thread has got through to me.

The most shocking fact in this thread is that i learned Enterprise is 19! Please don't take offense to this but i thought you were much older. Maybe it's your post count. This means you made (on average) 1886 posts per year, since you were 0.

Really?. I cannot say that I have had an indepth look into the GPU folding on Multi-Gpu's. I think I will take a little look later and find out some info. The thing I wonder is if you can have 1 GPU client that takes adcantage of all the GPU cores you have in that machine..Or if you can have 1 GPU client for each GPU. I will have a look. Does someone already know the answer to this ?

Thanks.

Wow...You started at a young age. Sooner the better. Its great to see that you have rather a few rigs pumping away for you mate and its great to hear your dad is involved aswel. I think when it came to folding I could explain the concept to some people yet they never actually FOLD. I think you can only get through to some. Some see the good in Folding and yet some people will always be skeptical, theres only so much you can do lol.

As you say I think it would be awesome if alot more people fold. I think because they know they cannot fold 24/7 that ultimately it would be a waste of time and would not be productive enough. However this is not true guys. Every WU counts...even if you only get ONE WU out every so often..it still helps. Also dont get put down by the fact that you have a low PPD. Its not all about beating the competition. Its about making your contribution for the people. Life should not always be about competing , it should be about being there for one another !.

Yeah I am only 19...I still have much to learn and much to go through, mostly good I hope. Hmm I have never thought about that..I assure you I was not on OCN when I was 0 LMAO.

Thanks again guys. I find your stories very moving and very interesting. Its nice to know whats going out there in the world and your efforts towards folding.

Keep up the good fight

As far as I know you can only run one GPU client with one GPU and currently only one instants per machine.

Example

SMP+GPU2 recommended

SMP+SMP+GPU2= not recommended

Basically right now we are stuck being able to only run one Client of SMP and GPU on a single rig.
