I've been folding for about 3 days only and i've followed the Ubuntu Guide with VMware Server. Also folding with GPU2. Right now the computer's finally stable while folding, it stopped crashing my comp after 1-2 hrs of SMP folding. But i keep getting SMP errors or according to FahMon, the clients *hung* after a while of folding. Is this related to my overclock being too high or what?

It sounds like it's an o/c issue. Try to bump up your vcore a notch or 2, see if that helps.

Question. Have you tried running 9x multi instead of 8x? I had that exact same board and chip combo. You shouldn't need that much vcore to hit 3.2. Try it with a 9x multi.

9x multi i only needed 1.416vcore to get 3.19 but i went down to 8x multi for a 1:1 ram divider. the system wasnt really stable when folding @ 3.2ghz on 9x multi. it was stable for a while on 8x multi until i had a power outage. then the chip said i quit and started to freeze up on me until i lowered it down some more.

wow, you shouldn't have to run that high of a vcore to hit 3.2GHz. I have a B3 revision and can hit it with 1.3v.

Yes. this is definitely a system stability problem. I'd lower that vcore. Way too high. And loosen those timings on the G.Skills from 4-4-4-12 1T to 5-5-5-15 2T and see if that doesn't help.

AKAeric, it seems my Q6600 is worse than ur B3 then. cuz no stress testers (Prime95, OCCT, orthos) will work on the Q6600 lower than that. 4 hrs and it freezes or autoreboots.
__________________JadeMiner, if i lower the vcore lower than 1.400v then it runs into stability issues. and why would i loosen the timings if its rated for 4-4-4-12 @ 2.1v(which is wut im runnin the ram on) the ram runs fine at 4-4-4-12 1T 800mhz. Im getting a stable system now that i've dropped it down to 3.15ghz... But i get these Errors sometimes with Ubuntu when it tries to fold project 2662. Quote:

I had alot of problems with that board and my Q6600. I bought that board when it first came out, paid like $250. It was horrible at o/c'ing my Q6600, 3.2 was as high as I could get it. I then went to the P35-DS3L($100 board) and was able to hit 3.4 with no problems. I can hit 3.6, but the temps are too high for 24/7. Needless to say, I think it's your board.
