Default Guide: Setting up FahMon for Vista SMP

A simple guide from a simple man. I am covering every step so as to make it real easy. Hopefully this will be of some assistance.

Fist I am going to guess you downloaded FahMon from here and have it somewhere on your hard drive. If not now is the time to get it.

Locate the file FahMon-2.3.2b-Installer and double click it.

You should get something that looks like this.

Hit run.

Then this comes up.

Click next, unless you need to add languages other then English.

Then allow it to install where you want it to be located.

In my case it is C:\Program Files (x86)\FahMon but that is because I am using Vista 64. Yours will probably be something along the lines of C:\Program Files\FahMon

Click next.

Then it allows you to select the start menu folder. I personally just click install.

After it installs hit complete.

Then go to the Start Menu and locate FahMon-2.3.2b, click the folder once then place the cursor over FahMon and click. (If you have an error with this then right click and select Run as Administrator)

Then you get this

Right click in the open space where you see Name, ETA PPD. You should see Add a new client, click this.

Then you should see this.

You can name it anything you want I use CPU, original I know but this way I know which client I am looking at.

Now comes the most difficult part.

Click the little button with the 3 dots … (Highlighted in blue)

Then you should see a box open up which has the title Browse For Folder

Click you user name and find the FAH folder. Click on the FAH folder and click okay.

Now it should look something like this.

The location should read C:\Users\Your Username\FAH

Click okay and if you Windows SMP client is working it should show a status like this.

Also If you wish to see the progress of the clients you are using click the Monitoring -> Show/Hide FAHLog then click the client you wish to check.

Check the Link in Start Menu.
Use the path of the "run in" (or similar called) line...

Default for SMP should be (Vista x64):
C:\Program Files (x86)\Folding@home\Windows SMP Client V1.01

GPU2 should be installed in:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Folding@home\Folding@home-gpu
But You have to link FahMon to:
C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Roaming\Folding@home-gpu
Admin in my user name so adjust it to your name ;o)

Did you go here: Control panel/folder options/view tab - check show hidden folders, and then hit apply. After you do this, you will see an AppDatta folder in the user folder. You will find Folding at Home in there. Set fahmon to that location.
