I am not alone in this error but basically when it picks up a new job(or sometimes randomly) it will say "error writing local file" "shutting down core". I have gotten it in multiple different computers running different copies of ubuntu/vmware. I know ranger98 is currently having the same issue. Sometimes if you do a sudo reboot it goes away and picks up a new unit.

Yes and all of these errors for everyone have shown up since the update to the new one. Also the old one won't work at all anymore. Mine work sometimes and not other times.

The only errors I've seen were last weekend when the work servers were down, and that had nothing to do with failing to write local files. You sure this is version 6.02? And, uh, is the VM possibly out of disk space?

I guess its possible but why would a random reboot make it go back to working correctly. Also how would I change the amount of space vmware gets?

You don't really, that was set up by whoever set up the virtual appliance you're using. Unless you want to get down and dirty with some nice system internals in Linux. Anyway run 'df' in Linux and see how much space you have.

It's been months since I ran Ubuntu in a VM, but the problems sounds VERY similar to what my P5B-E based PC would do if it didnt have the vmware vmtools installed.
Might not be your problem, but at least it's something easy to look into.

Huh, if you downloaded the virtual appliance out of the other thread, it SHOULD already have the VMware Tools installed.
