This thread will be dedicated to the pursuit of PPD, and related to the shader, core and memory speed gains to be realized from all types of GPU cores.
Please post your clock speeds, GPU type [with amount of mem and SP's] along with the amount of PPD gained from your OC adjustments.. and any mods/BIOS flashing you may have used Here are the shader straps for the G80 & G92 core: Quote:
*If everyone will stick to the same format..this will much easier to keep updated! This is an attempt to track the PPD gains seen [if any] from core and memory speed increases..as well as charting shader strap gains for # of SP's. ------------------------------------------------------ From the testing I have done myself, with the 8800GS and GT.. each shader strap, will bring ~100 PPD of additional performance.. Core and Memory speeds will be the main focus of my research, as a lot of folks [including myself] are still in the dark on how tweaking these figures can improve PPD for your GPU. Thank you for your posts..screenies are welcome. I will update the thread as often as I can, with newly submitted results. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ATi 4850 Visiontek 800 sp's core:660 mem:1075 PPD:3300 HIS 800sp's Core:840mhz Mem:1150mhz PPD:4200 4870: Visiontek 800sp's Core:700mhz Mem:750mhz PPD:3300 Nvidia 8600GT/SC Core:576Mhz Mem:750Mhz Shader:1300Mhz PPD:1768.26 EVGA 64sp's Core:625Mhz Mem:800Mhz Shader:1400Mhz PPD:1943.89 8800GS EVGA 384 96sp's core:700 shader strap:1674 mem:800 PPD:5080 EVGA 384 96sp's core:700 shader strap:1674 mem:900 PPD:5120 EVGA 384mb 96sp's core:808mhz shader strap:1944mhz mem:977mhz PPD:5924 GPUv mod EVGA 384mb 96sp's core: 808mhz shader strap: 1998mhz mem: 977mhz PPD: 6010 GPUv mod EVGA 384mb 96sp's core: 828mhz shader strap: 1944mhz mem: 993mhz PPD: 6010 GPUv mod EVGA 384mb 96sp's core:808mhz shader strap:1998mhz mem:989mhz effective [980mhz set] PPD:6098 GPUv mod EVGA 384mb 96sp's core:808mhz shader strap:2052mhz mem:993mhz effective [990mhz set] PPD:6198 GPUv mod EVGA 384mb 96sp's core:848mhz shader strap:2105mhz mem:1000mhz PPD:6283 GPUv mod 8800GT EVGA 112sp's core:694 shader strap:1728 mem:1000 PPD: 5600 EVGA 112sp's core:745 shader strap:1890 memory:1007 PPD:6010 EVGA GT/SC 112sp's core:720 shader:1889 memory:950 PPD:6010 XFX 112sp's core:720 shader:1889 memory:975 PPD:6189 EVGA dual slot 112sp's cor:751 shader strap:1890 memory:900 PPD:6189 8800GTS EVGA 640mb 112sp's core:620 shader strap:1620 memory:1007 PPD:5760 EVGA 8800GTS 128sp's core:670mhz shader strap:1825mhz mem:972mhz(stock) PPD:5900-6100 9800GT EVGA 512mb 112sp's core:720 shader strap:1836 memory:1000 PPD: 4700 WU: unknown/5903

You need to add mods applied also.
I have to completely type out the link to my screenie so this will take a minute. EVGA 8800GS 394mb X2 (Both have identical results so far and are on seperate machines with amd 2800+/3200+ uni's 128mb/1gig mem respectively, XpProSP3) Stock Cooling Core 700 shader 1750 (locked to core) unable to increase further even when lowering core and mem to stock levels Memory 1000 (just popped them up from 900 and got +100 ppd but also recieved unstable machine error so still monitoring)

![]() Also typed out the url for the screenine but it would not take as an image so I had to place it as a url. Hopefully I'll get this comp functional again sometime today. Doing a partition copy on my htpc/backup browser right now and have to do a PS switch before I can get onto this one. and can't take anymore pain meds for another hour and 1/2. So anyway I'll take another screenie then and see if the increase held over time.

@ usapatriot - I need core strap information for your GPU.. do you have a copy of RivaTuner installed on your rig? *RivaTuner is the only GPU program I have ever seen to display the GPU strap's correctly..
For all who post.. if you are not folding with a G92 core ..can you please list the shader strap, as seen by the Hardware Monitor in RivaTuner?! This will alleviate a lot of unnecessary info for the thread updates.
