Default Adding -SMP flag to Win SMP guide

First go and download your SMP client from here:http://folding.stanford.edu/English/DownloadWinOther

After you have downloaded and installed the SMP client, go into your program files, and find your Folding at Home folder. Then you need to make a shortcut, as shown here by H00chie3.

It is easy, here is your F@H Folder

Here is the .exe that you need to make a shortcut to

Here is where to put the smp flag in your shortcut(this is found in the shortcut properties - just right click on the shortcut)
You need to add [space] -smp to the end of the target directory as shown.

After you run the Folding at Home for the first time, you will need to configure it. This is how you do this, as shown here by 455buick.

User Name: [] Your folding name
Team Number: [] 37726
Passkey: [] You get this from Stanford via E-mail, after you request it!
Use proxy: [No]
Acceptable size of work assignments and work result packets: [normal/big] normal is default
Change advanced options: [Yes]
Launch manually service question: [No]
Core priority: [idle]
CPU usage requested: [100]
Disable highly optimized assembly code: [no]
Pause if battery power is being used: [no]
Interval, in minutes, between checkpoints: [15] I use 5 minutes.
Memory: [push Enter to use the default; you don't have to adjust this]
Set -advmethods flag always, requesting new advanced scientific...: [Yes]
Ignore any deadline information: no
Machine ID: [1] Defaults ~ unless you're running more than one client on the computer then use 2
The following options require you to restart the client before they take effect...
Disable CPU affinity lock: [no] enter
Additional parameters: [] -smp
IP address to bind core to: [push Enter]

You should be all set now.

I guess I could give it another shot. Although I'm still kinda peeved that it gave me my second blue screen ever on this computer.

The first one was my fault. <_<

Hiya pun3d and nafljhy

Well I just thought of something while reading the guide, it seems to be running for me but man 3.5 days to finish??? Setup at 75% and 500megs the project 2653 (1760 points) that I got for my 1st one with this smp client is giving me 448ppd whilst with the gui version I might have gotten 1800ppd. So total with gpu2 and smp I am pulling over 4500ppd when I was luck to break 4k before. I'll just see how many, if any, errors comes up. And I know who to bother...right?

Anyhooo, I run a program called TaskSwitchXP. It replaces Windoze taskman. Well one of it's options is the ability to put any program window to the tray. And I just now remembered, again, that I can do it. So that is where my smp client is right now, down below. Check it out;

2653's a really annoying WU, takes forever. Then again the SMP client does a lot better on Intel than AMD chips, it seems...

Hiya error,

Ya over 52 minutes for 1 %. I have this cpu and I am running the gpu2 on core1. What is the best way of setting up the affinity for the 4 fahcore_a1.exe's and the fah6.exe? I did exactly what the guide you linked for me in my original request thread (you had me wondering what I did heheh).

And how do I shut it down correctly? I want to reconfig to use a bit more cpu cycles, I set it at 75%. And I set the affinity of all the processes for this to core0 as it was taking away from the gpu2. I'll watch it and fiddle a bit. In the meantime I'll do some reading over at stanford.

I am worried about not meeting the deadline. I am down to 47 1/4 min from 50 1/2 but the eta is 3d8h's and the preffered deadline is 2d20h the final is 3d20h. Will I make it?

Thanks for the help
