Default error when GPU folding

I have not gotten this before. My 9800 GTX+ is chugging away buy my 8800 GTS 320 is giving me this when i click on my shortcut. I've been folding fine for weeks now. I just installed the current drivers from nvidia 180.60.

no idea why this is happening. i'd love to get this fixed asap

and even odder when i try and go into the nvidia control panel it give me this error message.

It does look like a driver crash situation, Windows may be running with the standard vga driver. I recommend you re-install the NVidia driver. Even better, re-install it from Nvidia website.

Did the errors first start happening right after you updated? If so, try rolling back your drivers. The client may not support the newest drivers or they may be corrupt.

hmm.. could be driver conflict.. did you clean out the drivers after uninstalling? if not, uninstall and clean them out in safemode. then reboot and reinstall drivers.

definitely uninstall ALL nvidia display drivers and use driver sweeper (or similar program) to rid of the excess driver files.

then reinstall with the latest drivers, since you are on XP try the 180.60 betas or higher as they will reduce the CPU usage in XP to around what GPU folding requires in vista (~10% of one core).

well i uninstalled everything and then reinstalled and still got the same error. though i didn't get the nvidia control panel error. so i started rooting around with monitor settings. ends up i had my 2nd monitor disabled which i guess heeded me from folding. i'm back up and crunching data:

6931 ppd - 9800 GTX+
2990 ppd - 8800 GTS

9921 ppd total. woot!

thanks for the help

Dag...I totally had the answer on this one too.
I just went through hell week trying to set up two GPUs. Anyways, i would have told you to make sure that the you had extended your desktop to the second monitor in Windows, and made sure the monitor was active in Nvidia Control Panel also.
I am gald you got it sorted out

BTW I am getting 9978 PPDs ATM, so HA!
