Let's find out. I'm going to download it once I have a couple of work units done and see if there's any noticeable difference. See if you can do the same maybe.

Once I'm done with exams here (or earlier) I'll work on this again to make it more newbie-friendly. I have a couple of things in mind about that but a few other projects going on at the same time so it will take some time.

Hmm.. got the tray client and ran a couple of WUs

Code:

 Min. Time / Frame : 52s - 5865.23 ppd
 Avg. Time / Frame : 52s - 5865.23 ppd

 -- 8800GT@1750@Tray --

 Min. Time / Frame : 54s - 5648.00 ppd
 Avg. Time / Frame : 54s - 5648.00 ppd

-------------------------------------------------

 -- 8800GT@1750 --

 Min. Time / Frame : 1mn 11s - 4672.90 ppd
 Avg. Time / Frame : 1mn 11s - 4672.90 ppd

 Min. Time / Frame : 1mn 15s - 4423.68 ppd
 Avg. Time / Frame : 1mn 15s - 4423.68 ppd
Tray seems to be about 200PPD slower than the console client.

Very interesting. Let me know how you make out on your 275. Maybe I will switch my 260s to the console too.

Update: I tried the console version and saw no difference in PPD from the systray version. I guess that is to be expected considering they are both using the same cores and processing the same WUs.

i am getting stuck at this step

Client configuration

The next step is to configure the client. Open a Command Prompt and change directory to the location where you unzipped the FAH client. Type this command to begin (assuming you renamed the FAH executable to "fah6"):

fah6 -configonly -smp

i type this in and it sits there for a second or two and then i get

c:\fah

nothing happens i can not get to the config part it just won't come up...can someone help.

Is this a part of Stanford's guide?
If so you probably need to type fah6.exe

If this doesn't solve it, make sure that this is the exact location and executable name and lose the "-smp" for now if you have to. Add it later on in the configuration parameters you will be prompted about.

If you're still having trouble, try redownloading the files.

Subbed. I'll be following your notfreds guide soon as error10's clients have just died out of the blue on me. Weird, months with no issues then bam neither one on 2 systems will complete a unit after 97-99%.
