If it came down to someone actually coming for the bounty just to leave again, I would be willing to bet that on day 14, Nitteo's number would jump up and mine would drop to 0, strangely going back to normal the next day, but resetting the competition to day 1.

Just a guess though.

I really wish I had the power to compete in something like this.. or even the power of enough to hold my own rank. I'm looking into buying one powerful GPU to fold with 24/7, but I can't afford it right now.

Great minds think alike Nitteo........

It is very awesome to use prizes get the interest going, to spark competition, to keep interest high and perhaps have some people look in from other teams and decide they like it here and wish to make OCN their new home for folding and other contributions....that is great.

But for a major player from another team starts asking well if I come over to OCN and win then how long do 'yall expect me to stay around after I win..........that does not seem like the spirit of this competition as it was intended.

I think there should have been a minimum amount of criteria. The prize money should go to a OCN folder and not a hired gun who is just passing through.

Whoever wins it has made a substantial investment in folding gear to get there. $800 will not even come close to buying one GX2 rig (retail) and that is only 40K ppd.

I like the idea of incentives for folders, and I can tell you that I would use it to upgrade my folding rig and such, but it's going to be hard to ensure that everyone else will be fair and honest if they happen to win. There's no way to guarantee it, one of the sad parts about human nature.

Either way, Stanford servers will get pummeled, and isn't that what we all want?
