will definitely try OCing the shader and seeing how much more I can get atm I am doing about 6.9k with my 280GTX but thats only temporary... I just acquired another 2 9600GSOs so I got a total of 3 x 9600GSOs and 3 x 8800GSs i need one more of each and four of either one... might go with 8800GTs if I can find em in this low of a price range (prolly not )

I have one 9600GSO, running extremely high 735-1800-1040, and gets around like 3500-4000 PPD, which I guess is good?

I don't know because I just started folding, but it seems like great card for the money! I imagine 4 of them would be a beast.

I'm thinking about going with an 8800GTX as I only have one PCI-E slot.

I will keep that in mind! I'm currently trying to get my friends 8800GTX, he will most likely let me use it till I buy it from him, and if it's much better than the 9600GSO, which I assume it is, then I'll definitely consider selling it to you fairly cheap.

About how much is one worth? Or are much would you pay for another? I'm just asking so if I sold it I could give him the money towards the 8800GTX.

You can lower the core clock down to 700mhz, and lower the mem speeds down to ~970mhz, without loosing any PPD at all...doing this will also allow you to bump the shaders up to the 1836mhz strap..giving you another 100PPD on smaller WU's..and another 50ppd on large WU's [like the 511pointers].

I run my watercooled GS at 825/2052/1045...and aircooled at 700/1836/990.

Just got this for $50 after MIR on Amazon: http://www3.pny.com/9600-GSO-768MB-P...P2681C331.aspx
So far in playing with Riva, I'm not getting past 675/1700/850.
Should I unlink the core and shader clocks?

For sure.. with stock GPUv, you will not be likely to pass 650/1728 for clocks.. Definitely un-link the core and shader for better tuning. If you are gaming- leave the shader clocks ~1674 or 1620mhz straps..and raise only the core and mem speeds... for folding use- leave the core speeds at stock and raise only shader straps first..followed by mem speeds, until you reach your max clock speed for stability.

Thanks CL3P20. I'm 5 min. stable ATI at 650/1700/850 ~65 degrees w/ 40% fan.
I'm anxious to see what I can fold tomorrow.

temps are crucial for shader speeds...that said, my aircooled GS, runs with the fan locked at 100% and a side fan on it as well...keeps temps below 65c..and shaders at 1889mhz.
