How are 9600GSO? for folding?? Are they comparable to the 8800GS which was considered the best bang for the buck in PPD?

I'm getting 3356.44 PPD on a 5904 WU @ 580/1728/560 ATM.
It's an XFX 9600GSO 768mb 96SP.

The 9600GSO is just a re-named, re-branded 8800GS. They're the same thing, so get whatever you can find for cheap, they're great cards for the price, I got mine for $60ish.

Make sure to get the version with 96 stream processors (these ones are the same as 8800GS's, with a "crippled" g92 chip). Recently they have started selling 9600GSO's which are based on the g84 and have 48 SP's, and they suck for folding.

man WTH the 9600GSO (the good ones) go for around the SAME price as the 9600GTs I was trying to save a bit more money with going with those... I have about $250 and I want to buy 4 GPUs for my folding rig any other suggestions of ones I can buy without MIR

Get a gx2 with that budget

gx2 goes for about $240 a pop and I am planning on making 3 systems atm... $500 a piece so GX2 is pretty expensive for the builds... 4 GX2= $960 4 any other GPU = $250 3 systems = $1500 with any other GPU with GX2 3 systems will cost over $3600 so a REALLY big difference in price as for PPD/$ (estimate)

9600GTs (estimated PPD = 4500 per card, 18k per system, 54k for all three)
PPD/$ = 36 PPD/$

9800GX2s ( estimated PPD = 12k per card, 48k per system, 144k for all three)
PPD/$ = 40 PPD/$

The GX2 is better but paying MORE than twice price its toooo much for me

well I have picked up one GSO and am slowly gonna keep picking them up until i have 12 so hopefully in a month or two I can have 3 full setups ready and hopefully pumping 54k PPD total and then after that I will continue adding systems to my farm hopefully fourth one MIGHT be a gtx295 one (if the price comes down to around 240 ish like the GX2s did)
