I've never folded on a PC so idk what to expect

I do about 8 frames a second and a 200,000 frame WU in about 7 hours
I only pick the small ones like that, big WU's take days

Does the i7, Phenom II's, GTX 28* beat that?

Welcome to OCN's folding section, Lombax. Always nice to see new members that are folding!

Im a little confused on your post though: Are you asking if "we" 'can'..or 'are'..folding "faster"..?

..Either, were the case- it's an abstract question. PS3's fold different WU's than a CPU, or a GPU..while they may fold the WU's they receive..they are worth less points. On the other side of the scale, CPU's fold large WU's that can take from 1-3days to complete [SMP client]..but are worth several hundred to a couple thousand points.

The only way to compare folding "performance" is with your PointsPerDay average.

*On a side note- the folding performance of a PS3 is not scalable, as it is running an OC on a CPU or GPU. One of my 8800GS's averages ~4600 PPD... what are you getting daily with your PS3

it goes 900 points then stops even if i do 2 or 3 more WU's after that

.the answer to your question appears to 'Yes' then..^^^ can have higher PPD than a PS3.

The only way to compare folding across different clients is by PPD.

An i7 running 4 instances of VMware can get 9K+ PPD, a GTX285, IIRC, can get 10KPPD. A PS3 gets about 900PPD. All points count and help OCN and Stanford.

What name are you folding under. So we can look it up and see how your doing.

if you are running Linux then you may be able to do a work around and run smp but I don't know to much about that
