What kind of points should a 768 GDDR3 GSO get?

Well, i messed around with my shader clock last night some, oc'd the shader to 1944 MHz from the stock 1375 and it seems to have increased my PPD about 1000 points. So far its as stable as can be, I think I might try pushing the envelope some more today, see how high I can get it before it destabilizes.
Strange thing is, I have it set to 1921 MHz yet on EVGA's precision it shows up as 1944MHz. ![]() EDIT: Added a SS of precision.

Well I tried to OC it some more but it doesnt want to set right. No matter what I set the shader slider to from 1944-1990 MHz, it just sets it to 1944. And then when I set it anywhere from 1991-2025 it sets it 1998. Then if I set it to 2026 it sets it 2052.
Now how am I supposed to "dial in" my oc if I cant set it to the exact numbers? Would Voltmodding it help getting to the 2200 limit?

Your dealing with what is refered to as "shader straps". It is exactly what you describe, there is a range of settings that will show the same setting. There was a thread here a while back that had a lot of the straps listed.
I don't know where you got the 4-5000 ppd figure from. it is more like 3500-4000 (actual) for an overclocked GSO. There was a week or so a while back where a certian driver (185.20?) with a specific WU (5904?) was giving some high numbers, but it was a fluke. V-moded cards can get closer to the 5-6000 PPD range with good cooling.

You can push the volts by softmodding (Flashing modded bios) hardmodding (C2L3p0(i CAN NEVER REMEMBER THE SPELLING OH is the guy who is king on thAT) [stupid caps lock] and I'm not sure but there may be a evga program that will allow it??? or is that only for the 200 series?I run my 8800gs's with stock cooling @ 700/1750(locked)/1000 9800gt with stock cooling (double width)@ 720/1836(locked)/1000 Ummm, totally lost on where we are on this but getting an extra 1000PPD is huge!!! nice job! Will check back later but hafta do some mindless stuff now till my back calms down.

Thanks Hue
Actually hellscream, now its running @ 555/799/1944. Will OCing my memory net any improvement or is it strictly shaders that up the points?

??? core/shader/mem so you mean 555/1944/799, I guess. Raise core after shader see if you can get it too 700 and then goto mem to like 1000. Mem will give very little but should add almost no heat and is easily capale of 200 increase(don't know your stock) My stock EVGA 8800gs's are 550/1250(IIRC)/800 they oc like mad on stock cooling

THat and I think it looks better in an ascending format. ![]() I'll try upping the core and mem and see if there's any difference. Even 100PPD wouldn't be bad as that would put me ~4100-4200PPD.

You guys run your shaders pretty high, do you have the fan's set to 100%. My 8800gs runs the shader at 1620 and the temp is mid 70s with the fan speed at 50%.

Since I cranked up the shader, I've got my fan speed set to 80% and it folds at a cool 63*C in a ~21*C room. So all in all not too bad.
When my PSU shows up we'll see how the temps are affected when there are 2 cards folding on the same board.
