Default 9800GX2 100 Celcius! 100% fan speed!
Using eVGA Precision, my eVGA 9800GX2 GPU temperature is 100C, and the fan speed is 100%!
System is open case with only one GPU card!
What is wrong with it?
How hot can the GPU sustain without melting?

About 110C I think. But I'd recommend a re-seat immediately.

i would do a reseat and get back to us, thats the only way if the fan is at 100%

Those things can run super hot, so I wouldn't worry about ruining the card at those temps, but I would still try to bring them down a bit. Take the shroud off and clean out all of the dust in the heatsink, then try to get as much air as possible on the card when it is running.

what do you guys mean by "reseat"?
The board has only 1 PCIE slot.

As in unscrew the VGA cooler, and reseat it. Preferably using a different thermal paste (like Arctic Silver 5).

I believe he meant reseat the cooler on it. As long as it doesn't have a warranty void sticker on the screws or anything you need to take it apart, clean it, reapply good TIM and put it all back together.
