Default June's foldathon prize planning thread

The Foldathon for June is going to be from the 24rd-25th.

With the success of May's Foldathon still fresh in our minds, I wanted to make a few brief announcements about the direction of the prize drawing aspect.

Every three Foldathons, there will be an extra section of prizes featured on the regular Foldathon prizes thread. These quarterly prizes will be substantially larger than the ones that appear each month. To be eligible though, a member must have folded in the previous two Foldathons in addition to the current one.
In addition, I'm thinking about creating a category specifically for those members that just started folding specifically for the Foldathon. The requirement would be something along the lines of they needed to have started no earlier than that month. Don't panic, the vast bulk of the prizes would still remain a general random drawing. I haven't settled upon the exact specifics yet, but just something I'm considering.
I'm hoping this new prize and incentive structure will encourage people to sign up and fold for not just one Foldathon, but continue to participate in future events even if they did not win in the first one.

The Foldathon, despite being a lot of work, is something I really enjoy working on and organizing. I would love to be able to continue, and even eventually expand upon the scope of, this wonderful event for many months and years to come. The largest obstacle I'm discovering is, resources. Not necessarily those in the sense of manpower or time, but in materials.
Essentially, I'm asking if members could search around their rooms, embark upon an expedition into their closets, and see if they might be able to find some gem of computing goodness that they would be willing to put up as a prize for the next month's Foldathon.

Will you guys help me out? Maybe some old sticks of ram, those fans you never got around to modding your case for, or even just a computer game you no longer play. Anything you could spare would be a great help to not just me, but OCN and science as well.

Thanks in advance guys

I've got a brand new factory sealed copy of Crysis: Warhead that I will donate for the foldathon. Just let me know what you need me to do with it. I have no problem shipping it to you so that you can have it on hand when awarding the prizes.

maybe have the 2 lists but only have the smaller items and/or maybe one cash (paypal) prize specifically for the folders who just started for that fold-a-thon and also have them entered for the general prizes (unless they win a new folder prize).

Glad to see this topic up so fast . When will the first one with big prizes be? The one in July? Looking forward to it either way, maybe this will motivate more people to fold for OCN again so we can get back to our usual PPD =(.

Well since I'm building my cluster using Linux, I have about 20 XP licenses that won't be in use anymore. I don't know if anyone needs an XP license anymore tho lol. But if there's interest I'm willing to give them away. You can divide them up among the different events too.

Nice job jumping in there guys!

I have tons of stuff I want to give away but getting the stuff shipped is a issue for me.

This goes without saying but
1. If you can't afford to lose it don't mod or OC it.

I can help you out with that. I am in your area all the time and I could just stop in when you have something to ship. Worse case scenario I can ship things through work too.

I have a set of OCZ Reapers 2x1GB 800MHz to donate to the cause. Val let me know if you want me to ship them to you or just ship them out when the winner is picked. Seems like a waste to ship them twice.

Nice Franz, I'll start making a list for the freebee section and see If I got anything spare for Folding.

I have 1 AeroCool Centaraus 80mm Fan that is Brand new in an unopened box that I would be happy to donate to the prize list. I bought several for a mod I was doing and have 1 left over.

It's not much - but it's something, right?

Edit:
