Default 353 and 511 WUs are not being recorded in Stanfords stats. Fixed 6/24/09

After reading azcrazy's thread on the sudden point dips, I decided to check my own stats. I fold under franz and OCNfranz for team competition.

My OCNfranz account was showing a very strange point deficit between 9pm yesterday and 12pm today. No points.
I just finished reading through the last 36 hours of my fahlog and saw 3 WUs that were completed and sent, but have not shown up on the Stanford stats yet.

5772 (353WU) finished at 15:22 EST yesterday
5758 (384) finished at 18:20 yesterday. This WU was sent in?!?!?!?!?!
5754 (511) finished at 23:53 yesterday
5770 (353) finished at 2:11 today

As you can see the 353 and 511 WUs were sent, but have not shown up in the stats yet.

Then I dug through the fahlogs of my other 2 GPUs and found similar results.

GPU 1

5768/353 16:49 est Not recorded
5765/353 14:31 Not recorded
5768/353 12:13 Not recorded
5762/384 9:55 Recorded in stats.
5772/353 6:57 Not recorded

GPU 2

5770/353 2:11 EST Not recorded
5754/511 23:53 Not recorded
5758/384 18:20 Recorded in stats.
5772/353 15:22 Not recorded

I just looked over at the Stanford forums and have seen complaints of lower PPD, but havent seen a direct correlation to these WUs yet.

I just figured I would share my findings. I will post over there shortly to see what is going on.

Updated 6/24/09:
It looks like they have finished their updates on their servers and all is well.

From the folding forums.

Good thing that you figured it out, but that's horrible news It makes sense, becaue on that day I had a 384pt wu every update or every other update and a bunch of 0's. It could be that the 0's were due to 511's and 353's. The only time that I should get 0's are when I'm working on 1888's, but that day I didn't get any of them, or very few.

I have also noticed, that since that day, I have gotten a bunch of 768's. I hadn't gotten 768's in a while up until yesterday. A few other wu's that I hadn't gotten in a long time have come back.

I have been reading though the posts over at the Stanford forums as fast as I can. I don't usually go there unless there is a problem.

I just came across some info that said they are having some serious server problems. I am not sure if they assign specific servers specific WUs, but that may explain it.

Hopefully when they get the server back up that has all of our projects on it we see our stats update.

The news blog says that they're upgrading the servers. How long can it take to upgrade the OS an the FAH code on a whole family of servers?

In the past, when a server is down, the stats that are on that server are sometimes not picked up from that server until it comes back on-line. I'd guess that something like that is happening. I've seen stats delayed as much as a week and still show up. They take all reasonable precautions to make sure that no data is lost, but unfortunately there is no guarantee. I believe that they'll do everything that they can to award all the points that people have coming but sometimes Murphy's Law prevails.

Well hopefully I'll have a huge point spike, because I've had quite a few 353 and 511's today.

That is what we are all hoping. That would be a huge loss of research if they were to lose that much data.

I just finished two 511s and received another 353. Hopefully these wont have issues.
