Default 9800 GTX+ only getting 2000 PPD - more info

I started folding for 37726 2 days ago, and already have 0ver 14,000 points. However most of these points have come my cpu.

I have a quad core AMD @ 2.3 GHz

I have an XFX GTS 250 (9800 GTX+ rebranded)

my cpu gets 5k PPD

my gpu gets 2k.
Everything I have read shows that I should be getting more like 5-6k from gpu as well. I'm running the console client through wine.

EDIT: I've confirmed that I am running the GPU2 console client.
EDIT: I've discovered that my work units are only handed in for 384 points. ***?

In the settings I changed the advanced settings to allow for Scientific WUs.

Does wine really decrease the ppd by that much? or did I do something wrong. I'm using 64 bit Ubuntu 9.04 (for SMP cpu) and the 180.44 Nvidia drivers, and the 32 bit Cuda driver toolkit, as instructed by various guides.

My GPU is currently working on this "Project: 5749 (Run 11, Clone 169, Gen 514)"

I'm a folding noob but an avid computer user who is pretty familiar with Linux.

I wish that I could help you, but I know nothing about linux. All that I can tell you is that a 5749 is a 511pt wu, which drop ppd down by a considerable amount. Still, it shouldn't be dropping that much. My 8800gts does mid 4k on a 511. I believe that your card comes with higher shader clocks and should at minimum produce the same ppd.

My download said "Windows XP GPU client version 6.23"

I saw the GPU2 client but they didn't have a console version available. Is there anywhere I can get one?

I have read the system tray GPU2 client runs very slowly under wine. (A Tut on this site) That post was also a year old. I'll try it out soon and see for myself.

After much confusion on the website i have determined that I am using the GPU2 client. I changed by core priority from idle to low. I'll see if it makes a difference.

okay by looking on folding.extremeoverclocking.com

I can see that my gpu WU are only turned in for 384 points apiece! This does not seem right.

I set the advanced options to allow sciencetific WUs. Was this a bad idea ( I did it on my CPU as well, seems to have no problem there.
