Yeh, folding goes better for me in the summer when the AC is on in the house and I can have a nice OC... now my roommates want the heat on and it was cooking my PC... so im back at stock.

It took my computer about 18 hours with this new vmplayer to do the WU that just completed a few minutes ago.

Ok I got it setup with notfreds client but it seems that its the exact same as running 2 instances of VMware player and 1 notfreds in each (Like the old way) it may be a bit more efficient on ram though I had to allocate 2gb of ram to it instead of 1 because of 2 instances and to monitor the second instance with FAHMon you just change the part at the end of the IP from /1/ to /2/.

It was a big MEH after setting it up, not really worth it for notfreds.

It might kill your GPU ppd if you aren't setting the priority higher on the gpu clients. I keep my 2 GPU clients at highest priority... and the VMware at lowest.

That's strange, my gtx 260 only looses 300ppd on a 353 when all 4 cores are folding. The cpu looses around 400ppd.

Actually, I find it odd that I didn't loose more ppd.

I think that is all that I lose, a few hundred per gpu. My times for a 353 are between 35-38 which brings me between 8714 and 8243...but I've seen some some with the same gpu pushing above 9000 ppd. My shaders are sitting at 1566 and 1512 for the 1st and 2nd Maxcores. The quad can get to just above 7m/% when it is not being used. So I think I might have lost some ppd but now I only gots to watch one vmware now.

try Setting the SMP to limit to 90-95% or the VM player CPU limit to that number, that should prevent the slow down in GPU or the system it self

i norm just run win SMP so i only get like 1200 or 1700 PPD (depends on work unit) {CPU limit in SMP FAH is set to 90% to prevent slow downs on GPU2 or system it self}, going from that to 3000-4000 PPD on an CPU client looks interesting (i have QX6850 3.3ghz 1200 - 1700 ppd , Phonem II X4 3ghz 1000 1200 ppd, this is from win client)

hopefully when they bring out threaded SMP (think they are working on it) it should be a lot better MPICH thing is rubbish on windows systems

are there any pointers on how to setup the linux VM (NotFred?) or are there pre setup ones VM images around that i can just run and then put linux Folding client on there, i have used linux in the past so i know little bit on how to move around it,

(worked out the notfred part) need to brush up on my linux commands thought (i think i only need to know how do i safely shut notfreds down and will it auto resume from where it left at when i reopen it)
