Default Little help needed with new setup.

Ok so ive got everything set up after getting a replacement mobo but the cards are running to hot as they are sandwiched closer then my other mobo. Right now im running half the clients I should be due to heat. I usually run at 35k PPD but im at 17K PPD right now with 3 clients and a SMP client. One card got up to 85c which is to high for my liking so I had to cut back.

So im thinking about going with a similar setup to the infamous "GPU milking machine" to cut the temps back to normal.

Anyone know where to find those PCI-e ribbon extenders? I cant find them on any sites that ship to Canada.

Id just strap a 120 or 2 to the sides of the vid cards and they should drop. They arent dirty are they?

Sry I dont know what you mean by 120 or 2. I just cleaned them out with an air compressor literally before this post lol.

Edit: Oh if you mean 120mm fan then yea I have 4 on top of the cards sucking air from them. It drops the temps like 8-12c. I Just really need some ribbon extenders to spread the cards out in preperation for warmer weather.

I like to play it safe, I dont want my cards to die just from someone closing my window when I hit a 511WU or something. There fine right now but they are running to close to the limit and I like to have some leeway in case the ambient temps rise.

I've heard of people removing the casing of the stock cooler on the 9800GX2's and applying better TIM of course.

I would put air directly on the cards and especially in-between the two cards as that's where most of the heat will linger. Do you have side case fans? If not you might want to think about cutting some holes for fans right near the video cards.

Im running caseless by a window. 1 fan is blowing air to the intakes of the gx2s and 4 are sucking air out of the outtakes.

Well if your caseless its pointless to pull as apposed to pushing. Id put all of them pushing air all over the 2 cards.

PCIe are 100 MHz, PCI are 33Mhz
