My caseless rig is responsible for cranking out a lot of points, three GX2s-worth in fact. Everything is indicating full-power, but it won't boot up.
I've determined the cause is either a bad mobo or cpu. Unfortunately, I don't have an extra cpu to test it with. So here's where I ask a big favor guys... Does anyone have a cheap am2 cpu that they'd let me test my rig with? Either it's the mobo (MSI K9A2 Plat) and I'll RMA it and send the cpu right back to you, or it's the cpu and I'll still send it right back to you ![]() Putting any more cards in my main rigs causes such a heatwave that I can hear that plastic creaking when I stop folding

Another bump for a great folder, I'm sure as soon as the right person sees this thread you will have a CPU in no time

I have an Athlon X2 5600 in my old rig, and would be willing glad to ship it out to ya. I just need to find something to package it in so it doesn't arrive all nasty and such.
EDIT: Seeing the post below me reminds me: I'll require one copy of that poster you said you were making to ship this.

Val had a very large guy following during the last foldathon, and I'm pretty sure most of them were straight

Sorry to hear about your computer problems Val.
In the meantime I'll keep the 5th position warm for you.

Buy a new CPU/Mobo, test yourself then make another F@H rig with 3x GTX 295.

Meanwhile, I'm gonna keep rocking these modded drivers I found. I'm only testing them out on one GX2 right now, but it's been pumping out a steady 6.1k/core at 1726 shader stap and only running at 70C with only the card's fans cooling it. ![]() 6.1k*10+2k for smp clients = win

I am probably 85% sure that it is your mobo that is the problem. It is actually surprisingly hard to blow a cpu unless you have absolutely no idea what you are doing when overclocking. One question, are there any beep codes when you try to power up? if not, it is probably either the power supply and if you know your PSU is fine, it is almost definitely the mobo as I said earlier.
