Hey guys!
I really love folding! I have a computer (see sig) at my house dedicated to it and I am pulling in about 1500-2000 PPD on my Nvidia 9500 GT. I am running GPU2 in XP and I overclocked the shaders to 1750. I used the guide floating around here to do it and found the shader straps (50mhz) and ran ATI tool to check for artifacts. It ran for 3 hours at 1750mhz with no artifacts. At 1800mhz it was artifacting right away. So I have the shaders as hi as they will go at 1750mhz. Here is my Folding History. Some days I have 1000 ppd, other days of the week I have 3000 PPD. The computer is not being used for anything except my mom goes on it for a few hours a day and does emails. She doesn't watch any videos, doesn't play games, or does anything graphic intensive. The computer is on 24/7(upon her request) so I am wondering how I can consistently up my PPD. Is there another folding client I could use? My drivers are like version 170 I think, I don't think changing them would make too much difference, but what do I know. What can I do (for free IE: Not buy another card) to up my PPD?

Have you tried setting the priority of your client to realtime? If it won't allow that, try high.

That, and try other driver versions; they can make a difference. I usually just use the latest driver, unless I hear that it's particularly bad.

There probably isnt' much that you can do. As mentioned, new drivers might help. I know there was a time when new drivers used up less cpu resources. I don't know when it was, but it very well could have been after 170.xx.
You can also try folding on the cpu. You might be able to get a couple hundred out of it. The reason that your points fluctuate so much is probably due to the 1888pt jobs. I bet they take nearly a day to complete with that card.

you can try using the -advmethods tag. Also, when I started using the -forceasm tag with GPU2 I went up a few hundred ppd on average.
You could consider running a CPU client too.

Definitely update your driver. The 170 series drivers are good but not great for folding or even gaming for that matter.

If I recall, the 185.xx drivers were pretty good for F@H. I could be making that up, though.

![]() They were. I still haven't updated my folding rigs from the 186.xx drivers. But I did notice that it made a difference when I went from the 170 series drivers. Although, the 170 drivers were WAY better for visual quality ingame. Although you did take a pretty big frame rate hit.

I dont see an OC on your rig, try a heavy OC and see if that gives you some extra ppd, also get the 185.xxx drivers

The single core CPU just isn't going to bring in very much extra points... even with overclocking it.
