Ok, i just decided to man up, and use my overly-priced computer for some good.
So imma start folding. Now, I have to use a flag in the shortcut name of the FaH exe to get it to work on my 5870, and I get ~800 iter/sec. Is that good? Also, I see people talking about PPD or something, what is that. Im sure these questions have been asked several times but... sry..

I get 26K PPD using 3 of the 4 GPU's of my GTX 295's in SLI. I get 42K PPD with 2 SMP clients and 4 GPU clients all running at the same time. I am working on getting more SMP clients going at the same time to get even more PPD. My iter/sec per GPU (remember that ONE GTX 295 has TWO GPU's) is around 750 when my cards are mildly overclocked, so I think you are doing pretty good.

Cool.
Maybe the new ATI cards are better at folding that you would think. hm. Anyways, right now I just have the GPU client, not really sure how to set it up or how to use the SMP clients or anything that you said. I wanna get into this loop! lol

you will not get 25kppd with that setup.. the best card for folding will have to be a gtx295 but they are expensive. a single gtx 275 gets an avg of 8.5 to 10k ppd. and two of them in sli will get very close to 20k with a vm smp client you should be able to get another 6k and that could get you at 25k ppd.

Can you run the normal FaH client to use the cpu, and the gpu client together? To hopefully get better PPD?

to get decent ppd out of your cpu you will need to setup a vm client. vmware.
couple of guides use this vm client because it will let you enable all cpu cores while letting enough memory and resources for good gpu folding.. http://www.overclock.net/overclock-n...re-player.html and here are pretty good step by step instructions.. remember use the client from the link above and then do the little 4 core mod. http://evga.tachedout.com/wiki/index...VMWare_folding
