Default Id like to really get into folding but...

Id really like to contribute a lot to folding. I'm kinda on a fixed budget, and Im kinda worried about the costs of electricity. I can get a half decent folding farm going I think thou but I'm worried about the cost of electricity.
We pay about 5 cents per k/whr in the winter and I was wondering how much you guys typically pay for your farms

Id be running:
My sig rig with linux smp client

My laptop:
Core 2 duo T6400
4gb ram
Windows vista 64
Regular windows client

Home server:
Pentium 4 2gb ram
windows server 08
Regular windows client

1 ps3

Also if it doesn't end up killing me in bills I can prob talk my roommate into his too.
his desktop:
amd x2 4200
4gb ram
nvidia 8800gts 640mb
Win vista 64

his lappy:
similar to mine

and another ps3

Any idea how to figure up how much this will set me back power wise?
Also any ideas to increase my points.
http://folding.extremeoverclocking.c...hp?s=&u=274911
(dont judge me too bady for the past few days, I was reinstalling oses, and giving the ps3 a break.)

I can't say that my electric bill went up to much while I was folding. I can't give you exact numbers as I don't fold anymore.

Also, run a VMWare client on the Core2Duo. You'll get much better PPD.

You mean run a vm of linux to use the linux smp?
I haven't read much about folding ohh in at least a year.. prob a stupid question but how does it help.. I would have thought having to run a second os would kill the performance.

(Don't get me wrong I don't doubt you, I'm just a newb.)

I wish I only paid $0.05. Try $0.15/kwh.
A single GPU rig for me (9600 GSO) running 24/7 was about $18/month for electricity.

Your ATI cards do not fold as well as Nvida cards do, so if your looking at a points/power use, you should get a Nvida card. There are rumors that the new GPU3 coming in the next few months will even the field a bit, but who knows.

Laptop folding is not real efficient either, and those CPU's will run very hot.

While not a huge points maker, you cold run a single instance of the single core cpu client on the server for very little cost.

PS3 do OK.

yea about the heat, close the heating vents in the rooms that have rigs in them, they will be plenty toasty with 24/7 rigs in them. turn your thermostat down 2* as well, and it will even out
