I set up a donation system on my paypal account, but I'm not sure if it is against the ToS for me to post a link to it. Running afoul of the staff over something like this would be terrible, so I'd prefer to get their blessing first.

That really sucks man. My mother had a spinal tumor, she had to have 2 surgeries which have cost about 1.1million up to this point (medication, surgery, hospital services). If we didn't live in Canada we would have been bankrupt for life. possibly move to Canada? =p

This is a good idea ... if the higerups will allow it to be organized here. A little bit goes a very long way when many people pitch in. It could save you from selling one of your rigs perhaps...

People with extra hardware they were willing to donate could perhaps sell them off here in the sale section and donate the proceeds.
