I recently reevaluated my finances, and came to the dreadful realization that I'm not nearly on track as I thought I was. Next summer I'm scheduled to have a critical (expensive) medical procedure next July, and the prospects of being able to pay for it is looking pretty grim right now.

It deeply saddens me, but I'm going to be selling quite a few of my belongings in an attempt to make at least some progress toward my goal. My folding gear, and probably even my computer, being chiefly among the first to go. I've been really debating between as to where I stand to make the most, ebay or OCN, but I would really like to keep the folding gear in the family if nothing else

My biggest problem I'm having is with prices. I am aware that 9800GX2s are quite valued in the F@H community, but not nearly as much elsewhere. I thought I'd ask here, rather than in the appraisal section, because of this fact.

Folding@Home has played a tremendous part in my life over the past year, not only for being able to contribute toward research on many diseases including mine, but also because of the incredible community and friendships I have had the privilege to be a part of. I hope that I can still be as active in this great community as ever, and that I am able to rejoin the folding ranks in the future.

Please check out my thread on MDA in the Overclockers Care section. If I am no longer able to fold, I feel I should at least attempt to raise awareness.

i'll tell everyone i know, i wish i had money to afford this. most important though, is that you get well soon, i know how tough surgery can be, i just had MINOR surgery and i couldn't do much for 2 weeks. you are a very brave and generous person, i hope one day you can start folding again when you're all better. good luck my friend, i'll try to do all i can.
