linux mint 7 folding smp questions

would i pump out more points per day if i used a linux distro such as mint 7 to fold using the smp for the cpu and gpu or would it be exactly the same as using vmware like i am now?

Linux will give more ppd on the smp client, but I'm not sure about gpu clients. I'm not very familiar with linux, but I use mint for one of the folding competitions. I only have my cpu folding and that's it. It yields more points than VMware. Depending on how well you are with linux, it might just be easier to use windows to fold the gpu's.

gup2 running under wine is close to windows. I'm getting 8500-9700ppd, depending on the WU's, from my gtx285 in linux and that seems to be about what people are getting out of these cards in windows.

Linux (in general) is better for CPU folding, but not good for GPU2 folding. Ideal setup is GPU2 and a VMware in Windows. So stick with what you've got
