Well I finally hunkered down and got both my 5850's folding, for a combined total of 7800ppd both on 384 point WU's.
Now combined they use about 60-70% of my CPU. Should i even bother running a VMware + linux setup with it? Or will it not bog them down much if i limited the VMware to cores 0 and 1 and then gave each GPU client its own CPU?

you could try a vmware and see if it will complete a unit fast enough... @ 4GHz, I am not sure what 30-40% of a quad core could do. Those SMP projects seem to have a short deadline so if you are only folding on 1 core worth of CPU and not doing it 24/7 it probably wont make it.
__________________If you find that you cant meet the deadline for the SMP projects, then download the single core client. You could probably get 300-400 ppd from that. If you are to do any CPU folding, it will max out your CPU to 100% which is ok, as long as you set the priority of the programs so that the GPU clients have higher priority and the CPU client has lowest priority.

Hopefully when the GPU3 client comes out you wont need to use so much CPU for your GPU folding.
