Default GPU folding stuck?

I have just installed F@H gpu on a clean install of vista 32bit and i cant seem to get it to fold. When using the viewer, at first it runs at 800 iters/s then it drops down to 700 then 300 and finally nothing is shown, and the viewer just keeps spinning, but no work is being done.

Why does my folding keep stopping?

Don't use the viewer to check folding; it can cause the folding to crash, or slow down.

Use Fahmon.

ok so i tried fahmon, but i get an orange square, with no ETA or PPD?
It seems as though my gpu isnt doing anything, i cant even hear the gpu fan speed up, and the gpu temps are staying the same.

It looks like you have everything setup right there. Like Xeb said stop using the viewer. It can cause problems.

With fahmon you have to wait a little longer until it reaches 3-4% progress. Then it will give you ETA, PPD etc.

Restart the client again dont look at the viewer and tell us if fahmon starts working or not.

EDIT: next time you take a screeny of fahmon hit F8 first to show the log. That way we can see what it says.

Try using the console client, I find it gives slightly more PPD. With FAHMon you have to wait until 3% to get a PPD estimate.

Ok, it's been running for a half hour or so now, and fahmon shows a green box and an eta of 9 hours. with 4444 PPD. Is this normal for my card? 9 hours? am i getting the right amount of points?

Also, could i run the standard cpu folding program along side of the gpu program for greater efficiency?
