Pause when done isn't checked either. I don't understand why my CPU client is sleeping, but my GPU client is running good.

This error has been noted when switching from one version of the Windows SMP to another. Apparently a WU started with one version of MPI cannot be completed with the other version. If you need to switch versions, use the -oneunit flag to finish the current WU first or discard the active WU.

You don't have to fold 24/7. Some of us choose to do that just because we can. If you want to fold 2 hours a day that works too. Though you may run over the deadlines of the WU's, it all depends on what hardware you are using. If you want to start out slow to get a feel for what folding is, and if it's for you go for it. Or you can jump in the deep end and never look back.

My personal take on what folding is all about:

Originally Posted by zodac View Post
Folding (to me anyway) is downloading a project from Stanford University. Your computer (CPU or GPU) then completes this project in a certain timeframe. It then sends the results back to Stanford, downloads another and starts the process again.

These projects analyze how proteins fold under certain situations. When these proteins 'misfold' they can cause diseases such as Parkinson's, Alzheimer's and Huntington's. By recreating the situation where the proteins misfold, we can work out how to stop them from misfolding.

By sending out projects to hundreds and thousands of computers worldwide, Stanford don't need to buy a super-computer to do the job, and allow folders to be a part of the research.
You don't need to fold 24/7 though, a few hours on that GPU of yours and you should good to start up at least.

Download the GPU2 client (nVidia) and see how it goes:
http://folding.stanford.edu/English/DownloadWinOther

You should get a WU finished within a couple of hours if you get a small one.

Make sure you join the foldathon (sign up quick; it starts tomorrow) if you want to give it a go.

Also, if you get hooked quicky (most of do), chekc out VMware folding on your CPU. You should get some good PPD out of that Q6600:

Good Luck

I am lazy and didn't want to read through this whole thread.

I just installed the program and joined the group. Hopefully lol.

I hover over the icon in the taskbar and it says CPU - F@h: Working (0/1500)

I haven't seen it move/change at all. Is there some settings I have to configure?
