Hey Taeric--I have a n00b Folding question--I have heard of peeps making as many as 4 directory/folders and setting machine ID from 1-4 for single core or dual core machines to try and get more units done--does this work? Is there a benefit you know of?

I've not personally heard of that. I can't imagine that it would help all that much. A CPU can only run a given amount of calculations, and it doesn't seem to me that hitting it with multiple instances of the software could change that. It might be worthwhile to try for the sake of testing, but rationally it doesn't seem like it would be helpful. Stranger things have definitely been known to happen, though.

I have several running and it doesnt really change your overall cal output but it does smooth out the load. Rather than picking up the big wu's I pick up smaller 153's and am usually able to submit smaller blocks on a daily basis rather than having no output one day and a big output the next. It doesnt produce any more points it just seems to smooth things out.
Credit Jrabb1920 he tipped me off to it and it seems to work...as long as my machines stay up ![]() --edit-- Taeric and chance we might have a spell checker comming Not an auto checker but a on demand spell check. I have a hard time editing in this small window and usually have to post and then go back and clean up all the spelling errors...

I do this on my high end rigs, it dose help the stability at high overclock, it was in a disscussion at folding@homes web site. also it dosen't make any differance with deadlines, as the program will bench mark for the two programs and give the approate work unit for that bench mark.
