I have read the sticky the FAQs
and tried to use the flags--but no results--I installed FAH into 2 directories ( C:\Programs\FAH1 and C:\Programs\FAH2) I created desktop shortcuts and added -config -local -forceasm -advmethod to the targets but that didn't make any menus open when I opened FAH other than the usual config menu. No place to put in machine ID #.FASHI does not work on either my Dual core or my HT--It will install but will not run FAH--an error message opos up and it closes. I only use the console version--so according to the FAQs I shoudl be able to get 2 instances up and running on both machines. I could use some help with this--as I obviously do not get it.

Ok, here is what you need to do. I am going to tell you from sratch so there is no confusion:
1.Delete all your previous Folding@home directory, files, ect. Save one copy of the F@H console .exe. 2. Make 2 folders, (Core 1 and Core 2) where you intend for them to stay. 3. Place a copy of the F@H console in each folder. 4. Open the F@H console and the set your name, team, ect. When asked about advanced options, select yes. Here you want to go through the list until you are asked if you want to set your Machine ID. Set your Core 1 to Machine 1, and core 2 to Machine 2. 6. Check in the console when it starts the Folding log, it should say on one .exe Machine 1, and another Machine 2. If it says that, you are good to go.

YES! That was exactly what I needed--FYI PaulDovi's directions work perfectly!
and the link to the thread from steveo42024 was extremely helpful as it contained the link to the console version--which I never had before....might explain a few things--I now have 4 instances up and running as compared to 1 a week ago--look out Folders--here I come! Overclock.net rocks (as usual). Thanks a lot guys!

What computer are you running to have 4 cores going? Not a 3.0E I am guessing.

http://www.overclock.net/intel-build...ts-new-pc.html
Just built a dual core 820 Smith on an ECS RC410l/800-M which came out Schweet (except no OC options on the ECS)--it'll be a full-time folder and part time Media Client (sucking up bandwidth on our wireless network) for the AV stream off my main Rig.It had been about a year since I built a PC and I was getting the itch. Got the CPU and Kingston Hyper X PC2 5300 off AdeOliver--the case, mobo, HS and OS from the Egg and the rest from my bin of PC parts (judging from your threads on the "For Sale" forum I think you probably have a similar collection). BTW the HTT 3.0 at 4205 with 2048 RAM is not slowed down in the least by 2 instances of FAH--I just transferred over 2 gigs of files over the wireless network and am currently serving up a SW install for the dualcore. The Dualcore, however is hindered by slow storage (in comparison to RAID 0) and "only" 1 gig of RAM.... Not too taken with the ECS mobo either--it's pretty and has decent features--but no OC options--a little detail they failed to document...
